The Patio
Afternoons here are in no hurry.
An orange tree in the middle. Around it, whitewashed walls, a grapevine and a terracotta-tiled veranda. The patio is where guests always end up staying: between a walk through Serpa and dinner, or simply all day.

A day on the patio
From the first coffee to the last glass.
The patio changes mood through the day. This is how we spend it, morning to night.

Morning
Light on the veranda
The sun comes in low and warms the tiles. Bring your coffee outside and let the town wake up slowly.

Siesta hour
When the Alentejo heat sets in, the patio is the coolest spot in the house. A deckchair, a hammock and a book are all you need.

A cold beer
The chalkboard list is short: beer, soft drinks, a bottle of wine. It is enough to carry the conversation through to dinner.

The tank lit up
After dinner the water lights up and the town goes quiet. A glass of wine on the edge of the tank is how we suggest ending the day.
The tank
Small, salty and unpretentious.
It is not a swimming pool, and we would rather you didn't expect one. It is a small salt-water tank with hydromassage, for cooling off on hot days and unwinding in the evening, with the grapevine overhead and the orange tree alongside.
